A simple way to raise money
Faith Moravian can raise money by offering DueSmart money and credit education courses to its members and neighbors. Each course costs $147, the same price anyone pays on the DueSmart website. For every course sold through the church’s own link, DueSmart pays Faith Moravian $47. The church never pays anything, never handles a card payment and never buys courses in advance.
The problems this fundraiser helps solve
Most of us were never taught how money and credit work. This fundraiser puts that education within reach of the whole neighborhood, and gives the church a way to raise money that gives something useful back.
It was never taught
Many adults finished school without learning how credit reports, interest, budgeting or bank accounts work. They learn by making costly mistakes.
Not knowing costs money
The average amount U.S. adults said they lost in 2025 because they lacked personal finance knowledge.1
The gap is wide in DC
Black residents of the District are nearly four times more likely than white residents to have delinquent debt, and white households are twice as likely to have $2,000 in emergency savings.2
Confusion gets exploited
People who feel stuck are targets for companies that promise to erase bad credit or raise a score fast. Anyone can dispute an error on their own credit report for free.3 The courses teach people what they can do themselves and how to spot a promise nobody can keep.
Help rarely comes in plain language
Financial advice is often full of jargon or only offered in English. The courses use plain words, and the credit courses include support in more than one language.
Churches need giving that gives back
Congregations are asked to give again and again. This fundraiser offers the neighborhood something useful, with no upfront cost to the church and nothing to stock or sell by hand.
The courses teach. They do not promise a credit score, a loan approval or any other result.

Four courses, one price

The part people overlook: a coach that answers out loud
Confusion is where most people give up. A question comes up after the workshop is over, a letter from a lender makes no sense, and there is nobody to ask. Every DueSmart course includes an AI voice coach with up to 60 minutes of talk time. The learner taps the microphone, asks in their own words and hears a plain answer.
Ask in your own words
No forms and no jargon. A confused learner can simply say what is worrying them and get an explanation in plain language.
Hear it in your language
The coaches speak English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Haitian Creole is offered in written lessons.
No private numbers needed
The coach explains concepts and next steps. It never needs an account number, a Social Security number or a credit report to help.

60 minutes
Total talk time with the coach for each course a learner buys.
10 minutes
The longest a single conversation can run. Short, focused questions get the most out of the time.
90 days
The window to use the voice time, starting on the day the learner enrolls.
Voice coaching has a real cost for every minute spoken, so it comes with these limits. When the voice time is used up, the rest of the course is unaffected. Extra voice time is offered only if a learner asks for it.
What the coach is, and is not
The coach is an AI, not a person. It gives general education, not personal financial, legal, tax or credit repair advice, and it cannot promise a score, an approval or any other result. Learners should never share account numbers, Social Security numbers or tax IDs with it.
Five steps, start to finish
- DueSmart creates a Faith Moravian sign-up page and link. The board sees and approves the page before anyone else does.
- The church announces the fundraiser in services, in the bulletin, by email and, if it wishes, at a launch workshop in the church building.
- A buyer pays $147 on DueSmart’s secure checkout, for themselves or as a gift for someone they choose.
- DueSmart delivers the course, answers questions and handles any refunds.
- By the 15th of each month, DueSmart sends the church a statement and pays $47 for each course sold the month before.
What the church could raise

- Buyers pay
- $7,350
- DueSmart receives
- $5,000
- Buyers pay

These are examples, not forecasts. The board sets its own goal.
Give a course to a neighbor
A member who does not need the course can still support the church by buying one as a gift. The person they choose gets an email invitation and enrolls with a name, an email address and a phone number. A gifted course counts toward the fundraiser exactly like any other sale.
DueSmart does the work
Faith Moravian
Approves the page, names one fundraiser coordinator, makes the announcements, hosts an optional workshop and receives the monthly payment.
DueSmart
Builds the page and link, runs the checkout, delivers the courses, provides support, handles refunds, sends statements and payments, and provides announcement text and printed flyers for the launch.
The church never
- Pays anything
- Handles a card
- Buys courses in advance
- Sees a buyer’s payment details
What every buyer is told
- Where the money goes. Faith Moravian receives $47 from each course sold. DueSmart, a for-profit company, keeps $100.
- Education only. No course promises a higher credit score, a loan approval or the removal of anything from a credit report. DueSmart does not offer credit repair services.
- What we never ask for. A Social Security number, a bank login, an account number or a credit report. Card details are entered only on DueSmart’s secure checkout and are never seen by the church.
- The voice coach is an AI. It gives general education, not personal advice, and it is not a person. Each course includes up to 60 minutes of voice time within 90 days, and each conversation can last up to 10 minutes. Never share account numbers with it.
- Other products. DueSmart also sells other products. It will not market them to anyone who bought through the church link unless that person asks.
- Open to everyone. Anyone may join, member or not. The course content is secular.
- Refunds. If DueSmart refunds a buyer, the $47 for that sale comes off the next statement.
How this fits with grant funding
DueSmart also runs a grant-funded version of this program, where a bank or foundation pays for free seats and the host church receives nothing from the grant. The two versions cannot run at the same church at the same time. A church that earns money from each sale cannot tell a funder it receives nothing.
DueSmart’s commitment
While the fundraiser runs, DueSmart will not submit any grant proposal that names Faith Moravian. If the board later prefers the grant-funded version, fundraiser sales stop before any grant proposal is written, and the church keeps what it has already been paid.
What the board needs to decide
- Approve the fundraiser and confirm that it is open to the whole neighborhood, not only to members.
- Set a goal: how many courses the church hopes to sell, and by when.
- Name one fundraiser coordinator.
- Confirm the church’s legal name and EIN, and who receives the monthly payment. DueSmart will ask for a completed Form W-9.
- Ask the church’s accountant how this income should be treated for tax purposes. DueSmart cannot give tax or legal advice.
- Record the decision in the board minutes.
From decision to launch
- The board decides.
- DueSmart builds the page and sends it to the board. Nothing goes live until the board approves it.
- DueSmart and the church sign a short written agreement setting out these terms.
- DueSmart confirms the voice coach limits are switched on for all new enrollments in its courses.
- The church announces the launch.
This proposal is an invitation to discuss, not a binding agreement.
